New Rapid in Glen Canyon
Due to the rise of Lake Powell during the snow melt of 2005, this rapid is now under reservoir water. However, it is possible that it will re-emerge and it is also possible that others may develop. Caution is advised when traveling and camping on the the Colorado River where unstable sediment deposits exist between the last rapid in Cataract Canyon and the environs near and below Hite Marina. Advisory: Hiking up Dark Canyon from its confluence with the Colorado River is slick (mud) and there is no alternative route.
